Thematic priorities
Strengthening the African knowledge society
Since 2019, The Guild has developed a close partnership with the African Research Universities Alliance to support sustainable partnerships between African and European universities - crucial for tackling the common challenges from public health to environmental change.
Future of Education
The Guild provides insights into important questions such as: What should the vision of the European University of the future look like? How can we ensure that universities equip graduates with the skills they need for the future? Through the work of our Education Leads group and publications, we aim to provide a space for dialogue and debate for the sector and feed into ongoing consultations.

The Guild provides insights into how Horizon Europe and its successor can best serve the needs of the European scientific community and address society's most pressing challenges.
UK and Swiss association to Horizon Europe
Since its foundation, The Guild has been actively advocating for scientific collaboration across borders. It is imperative for the success of Horizon Europe, and for European science as a whole, that the UK and Switzerland can contribute fully to the programme.
Africa-Europe Clusters of Research Excellence
African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) and The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities launched twenty-one Africa – Europe Clusters of Research Excellence (CoRE) in the Summer of 2023 to address societal and scientific challenges framed by the AU-EU Innovation Agenda.
