First Guild Summer School will focus on Career-Readiness for Ph.D. Candidates

We are happy to announce that the call for applications for The Guild’s inaugural Ph.D. Summer School (6 to 13 July 2019) is now open. Doctoral candidates across all study fields from our member universities are encouraged to apply by 15 March 2019. The summer school is coordinated by and hosted at Université Paris Diderot.

Labour markets worldwide are shifting, and it is the responsibility of European research-intensive universities to prepare doctoral students for a variety of professional contexts in and beyond higher education institutions. The summer school will explore the economic, ethical, cultural and social challenges doctoral degree-holders will face throughout their professional lives.

The week-long intensive seminars will cover lab visits, as well as private and public sector site visits. It will also allow Ph.D. candidates to engage with fellow students, lecturers, European and national policy experts, local organisations and businesses. Through training and lectures, the programme will help students develop transversal skills for richer career paths.

Programme fees (tuition and accommodation) will be covered by the home institution. For more information about the application and selection procedures, please visit the Summer School’s website: https://www.univ-paris-diderot.fr/en/guild-summer-school-2019.
