Along with the preceding attacks in Manchester, Westminster, and other European cities, the recent London attacks are an assault on the values we hold dear as individuals, students, and academic staff, values of internationalism, multiculturalism, freedom and tolerance. We continue to stand tall in the defence of these values, now more than ever.
We thank the security forces whose response has been so swift, and all the emergency services. Alongside colleagues in other hospitals, staff at King’s College London’s Guy’s and St. Thomas’ hospitals have worked tirelessly to help and support the victims of the attack, and they will continue to do everything they can to help victims rehabilitate.
As governments in the UK and throughout Europe are developing their response to these events, we as universities will be rigorous in our defence of free speech, learning, dignity and human rights, and the pursuit of peaceful debate and argument.
