The rise of European University Networks

When French president Emmanuel Macron laid out his vision for European University networks last year, many listened with great interest. Since then, the initiative has been intensely debated in Brussels and in Member States. What can be achieved through these networks of European Universities, and what will it take to get there? How could these European University networks drive educational innovation and the quest for excellence, while being inclusive at the same time? What key principles are necessary to strengthen European integration, support European values, and develop the European identity of scientists and students. And especially, what can be learned from cross-border cooperation between universities in neighbouring countries?

This event provides an opportunity to engage with the creation of European Universities based on the latest state of play presented by the Commission. It is organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Federal and European Affairs and Regional Development of Lower Saxony, the Ministry for Science and Culture of Lower Saxony and The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities.
